We were initially appointed to carry out the strip out and Enabling works package to the entire shopping Centre. Having to deal with the logistics of working on a small island with limited local resources, we completed the project on time and within budget. Due to the presence of existing retail tenants, all the works were executed sympathetically in order to maintain services to the existing trading retail units within the complex who, as a direct result of our careful planning and co-ordination, continued to trade seamlessly throughout the scheme.
Centre Management were relocated on the top floor and were consulted at every step via close liaison, planning and organisation with our site team. The works included the removal of all services within the stores and Mall areas which came with inherent problems whilst maintaining normal business for Centre Management as well as the retail tenants.
The contract was awarded to Sloane Curtis by Sports Direct International, following the successful completion of previous Sport Direct refurbishment projects carried out over the previous 18 months. Working closely with architects RPS Group, we completed the works to a high standard with minimal snags whilst absorbing a significant number of variations with no effect on the contract programme.
Summary of works:
Demolition and removal of existing Shop Fronts, partitions, ceilings, roller shutters, floor finishes, fixtures and fittings, etc
Formation of new structural openings through concrete floor for new lift and staircase
New disabled platform lift
Cambered steel, profiled sheet formwork, insitu cast reinforced concrete slab to enclose Atrium
90 Tonnes Isocrete floor screed pumped to 1st floor level and laid in just 3 days, to replace defective slab
New Bespoke "dog leg" steel customer staircase
New Structural solar reflective double glazed sealed units to Atrium
New 10 year Insurance backed guaranteed Polyroof roof finishes to entire roof
External Fagade repairs and cleaning
Removal and making safe of all electrical supplies, water, Data, CCTV, fire alarms, Ventilation, boilers, etc
Extensive Fire stopping to all areas to Fire Officer/ Building Control approval
Relocation of existing plant room equipment
