Our response to COVID-19.
Understand the steps we have taken to make our work space safe for all and get projects underway.
Throughout the lockdown period induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, wherever possible we have continued delivery of a number of projects in accordance to all Government legislation and instructions. We developed new controls to comply with Government and PHE guidance to ensure the safety and protection of our employees and all site staff.
Despite the progress of a number of projects being affected, the majority of our projects have now restarted having adopted new smart working processes and procedures to comply with the latest guidance reflected in the Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The most notable change to our working environment is the restrictions on the number of people physically being able to commute to and work on our sites because of the social distancing requirements.
By individually risk assessing each project, our general position is that we have been able to return between 70-80% of the pre-COVID resource levels for most of our projects. Because of the reduced resource numbers our progress and associated preliminaries are being elongated, but due to our excellent relationships with our clients and our ethos of working in partnership with the design teams we are attempting to mitigate the impact on all of our schemes. On our smaller sites, the impact tends to be reduced.
Our working practices and environments in our offices and depots have also been re-assessed and modified to ensure we observe the Government social distancing guidance. We currently continue to have a combination of home and office based working. Across all of our activities, we now have a tested, reliable and smart set of working procedures to ensure our compliance with restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
Notwithstanding the above, we continue to have circa 25% of our PAYE staff on the Governments furlough scheme with a view to this changing as soon as projects on hold are released. This situation remains under review moving forwards.
In summary, we took quick and decisive action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We constantly review our actions and new working procedures in accordance with the available guidance. At all times our actions are in the interest of ensuring Sloane Curtis has the ability and resilience to operate effectively and efficiently through this current crisis and that we are suitably poised to continue our growth programme in the future.
